Cheers to Fabio Ciucci for his tremendous essay on how machine learning works and how it has taken a leap forward since 2010. Amazing to learn that AI isn't even "rational" in a manner than humans can comprehend.
The commercialization potential in enterprise and consumer markets is mind-boggling, akin to switching from horses to trains and automobiles. The advantages are significant, as are the shortcomings and risk.
Highly recommended read.
For an investment, medical, judicial or military decision, you may want to know how the AI reached its conclusions, but you can't. The ML computations are visible, but too many to make a human-readable summary. The ML speaks like a prophet: you humans can't understand higher plans, so either have faith or not. The faith depends by the past exact predictions.
