If the news this week is accurate, Asda will soon be returning to a majority UK ownership, with TDR Capital having beaten an incredibly tough field of competitors to be in the driving seat for the acquisition. Having recently been working with a robotic automation business servicing the groceries and retail sector. I have been so impressed by the incredible advancements in technology that has propelled this industry forward into e-commerce and, frankly, made existence during lock down bearable for so many of us.
The team at TDR deserve the credit for having brought this opportunity to the line and I wish them all the best over the next few weeks. This is a highly competitive sector and they are taking on stiff competition who have moved early to automate; with Asda's focus on price, and as a significant employer in the north of England, they have to make good on this investment in more ways than one. All the best TDR.
