I wrote a blog recently about the trend for US tech giants to acquire UK AI firms: Google (DeepMind) kicked it off, followed by Apple (VocalIQ) and then Microsoft (Swiftkey). Now Twitter has confirmed the $150M purchase of the London based AI firm Magic Pony.
Not only that, but the venture capital arm of Twitter has been busy too. Last week a $70M investment was announced in music streaming platform SoundCloud, which followed similar deals with Cynogen, VenueNext and Swirl.
Whilst the 10% bounce in Twitter's stock price is mainly being attributed to rumours that MSFT may swoop, following the LinkedIn deal, Dorsey's efforts are certainly catching the imagination of the investment community. Watch this space...
